Gretchen Stofer Darby is the President of Gretchen Darby Consulting (GDC), where she advises companies and organizations on increasing their awareness and exposure through a variety of methods and channels.
After spending over 15 years as a Sales & Marketing Executive in the Hospitality industry, working for both large and boutique hotels, Gretchen has built extensive connections and experience in the market that have led her to become a well-respected and highly sought after Consultant. Prior to starting GDC in 2009, Gretchen was the Director of Sales & Marketing for the Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa in Uptown -- through the property’s $36M renovation and re-opening. Gretchen served as the Regional Director of Brand Marketing for the first Hotel ZaZa in Uptown, a boutique luxury brand started in 2002. Gretchen was instrumental in securing ZaZa’s noteworthy reputation as an “urban lifestyle hotel” among international celebrities from the music, TV, film, sports, and fashion industries. Prior to her tenure at ZaZa, she held management positions with Wyndham, Hyatt, and Radisson Hotel companies.
Gretchen was a member of the world-famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders from 2000-2002, where she earned the prestigious “Rookie of the Year” award, and also held a Second Group Leader position. She is an extremely active member of her community through various business, volunteer, and social organizations. She has held Board positions with the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce (GEDCC), Lakewood Elementary Expansion Foundation (LEEF), Lakewood Elementary PTA, and the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA. She has been a Dallas Scout for StrollerTraffic.com and a contributing Writer and Consultant for White Rock Life Magazine.
Gretchen holds a BA degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology-Criminal Justice, from The University of Texas at Austin. She graduated from UT in December 1994, on an accelerated 3 ½ year path, and was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She remains a member of the Texas Exes, the Dallas Alumnae Association of Alpha Delta Pi, and the North Texas Association of Alpha Delta Pi alumni organizations.
A native of Plano, Gretchen currently lives in Prosper, TX with her husband James (a Vice President and Commercial Property Broker for RT Specialty), their three children – Presley (10) and twin boys Jagger and Jax (5) -- and their well-trained German Shepherds Max and Maverick.
She enjoys traveling, music, fitness, and spending time with family and friends.
